An initial idea for the covers of my books is to cross a line through each of the old names of the districts. However, I felt that this was too dramatic as names change in an extremely slow way through the centuries.
So next I came up with the idea of having the current district name opaque, with those previous names gradually becoming more faded the older they are. I feel that this is a more effective way of treating the previous names as the way fading is treated with shows how they have progressed.
I’m going to keep the design of the maps simple. The two maps below are different sizes, perhaps this could be addressed?
